The love he had for me appeared to be emotionless.
He spoke my language.

Light hearts, toothy grins, and the feel of comfort are what kept me free.
Like a non-believer with high morals, that man was a sight to see.

My insides were no longer facing defeat,
And for once in my life I could just breathe.

A moment of bliss came,
And when it left my soul followed.

A man that was so prevalent in my antiquated life story,
Would soon lay dead, on the pavement, for more than two centuries.

There were no feelings; the details spoke for themselves.
The respect given was only valid if I put myself last.

It was painful, and it broke me down;
It built the tall statue you now see hovering above his legacy.

this poem hurts my soul, especially these verses here. i think the poem could do well by these three couple of verses alone.

it reminds me of a former relationship of mine.
beautiful!
